pretty
Just thought I'd share a pretty bit of Bedford I get to see twice a day, once in each direction.

What's your usual route? I'd have thought you go straight up the Middlesex Turnpike (3A). BTW, that big hill at the corner of 3 & 128? I grew up there.

3A is actually Boston (Post) Road, not the Middlesex Turnpike. (resident of Billerica)

Which becomes Rte. 3 as it passes (in the inbound direction) under 128.
I love the roads around here.

I know, weird huh? The roads around here confounded me for *years* :-)

Speaking of which, they're repaving a stretch of 129 in Wilmington. How's the bike?

From my house, the shortest way is Mass Ave to Lowell St to Middlesex Turnpike. The bits in Lexington and Bedford are quite nice. The bits in Arlington and Billerica are OK. It's really only the bits in Burlington that are no fun. Still, it's more of a commute and less of a pleasant bike ride than the Minuteman to Springs Rd, and so I take the scenic route even though the direct route saves 5 minutes.

While you're in the general area, take a short hop off the Minuteman and pass behind Hanscom AFB. From Springs Road at Great Road, cross onto South road, and after the entrance to the 'trail, you'll notice a street on your right named "Hartwell Road" (this is not to be confused with "Hartwell Ave" that enters the AFB itself). About a mile later, you'll find a rise, at the top of which you'll have a great view of the runways. If you're lucky, a corporate jet (or maybe even Boston MedFlight-- headquartered there) will be taking off or landing.

I drive right through there to go to Whole Foods sometimes. It is indeed gorgeous. And winding. :-)

mmmmmm....

It's surprisingly tempting to get up early to ride with you to work, then turn around and ride back to studio. Why do "real" jobs have to start so early in the morning?

Nice! I never get up to that part of Bedford. It really is a lovely way to start the day, isn't it?

Where you workin' now?
